New Year Group Brainspotting Intensive for People in Maryland & New Hampshire!

Full-Day Event!

Experience the Power of Brainspotting in Community! Leave beliefs about unworthiness and brokenness behind, you are not broken, but your beliefs are! Despite being an incredibly thoughtful person who regularly considers others’ thoughts, feelings, and needs, your own internal voice is loud and critical. You would never talk to your friends or coworkers the way that this inner critic talks to you, and yet, you have accepted this inner critic’s statements as truths! You’re left with lots of self doubt and insecurity that prevent you from showing up the way you truly want to show up in the world. You question your own worthiness regularly & are convinced that you and your body are broken!

It’s likely that you’ve tried other forms of therapy to help you recognize unhelpful beliefs and turn them into more helpful and accurate statements, but something inside of you still feels like those awful thoughts about yourself are true! It’s also likely that you’ve met with primary care doctors to talk with them about what’s happening to your body only to find that they don’t understand what’s going on any more than you do. You are again left feeling like there’s something wrong with you!

This inner-critic and the strange things happening in your body aren’t your fault! In our experience, they are often the result of unfortunate and highly stressful life experiences, harmful messages from family and society that have been integrated over time, and mental health struggles. Depression, anxiety, and trauma are common culprits behind the negative thoughts and confusing sensations in one’s body. Even though you find yourself buying into these negative thoughts about yourself, there’s a still small voice inside that believes something better is possible. That quieter voice gives you a little bit of hope that you can feel better and that you can pursue your dreams, and that’s the voice we want to help you cultivate!

Get to the core of what’s going on with Brainspotting!

Brainspotting helps us get to the core of what’s going on. When we brainspot, we are accessing different parts of the brain than those activated in talk therapy. For that reason, we’re able to go deeper quickly by peeling back the layers and gaining new insights. In my experience, people often develop a new appreciation (and trust) for their body and their body’s wisdom when they brainspot. As you’re reading this right now, you might even find that hard to believe, given your history and relationship with your body!

Find Healing with Brainspotting & Community!

Many of our clients believe that they are alone in their experiences. Their negative thoughts and lived experiences create a lot of shame which causes them to keep these things to themselves as a very private and personal matter. What we know, however, is that shame thrives in silence and secrecy!

For this reason, we are creating an opportunity for people to reap the powerful benefits of Brainspotting within the context of community with others who care and “get it.” Many people who have experienced horrific events have experienced them in isolation, without the support of others. Our negative thoughts are often kept to ourselves, so we are left feeling “weird” or “different” from everyone else. When we have the opportunity to share & do therapeutic work with others, there’s an added layer of healing and connection that occurs.

In this day-long Brainspotting Group Intensive, you’ll discover that you are not alone in these experiences, and you’ll have the opportunity to do deep work alongside others. Seeing others do this work gives us the courage and support to do the same! At the end of the Intensive, you will have completed hours of therapeutic Brainspotting work, leaving you with new insights and connections.

I believe in Brainspotting because I’ve seen it work!

The new insights, understanding, and perspective that arise during Brainspotting sessions are unlike anything that shows up in regular talk therapy sessions. At the end of Brainspotting sessions, many people report feeling calmer, even when they think about a distressing situation, or they report that the issue at hand feels smaller or further away. I believe in Brainspotting and the healing that can come from group work, because I’ve seen it happen before. As a Brainspotting therapist and Brainspotting Consultant, I’ve had to personally experience Brainspotting at each phase of my training.

Change is Just a Brainspotting Intensive Away!

Imagine what it would be like to walk away realizing that you are NOT broken! Imagine realizing that the voice in your head telling you that you are unworthy has been WRONG all along. Imagine walking away with a newfound trust and appreciation for your body, and how your life would change if you realized at the core of your being that these negative beliefs about yourself are untrue! When we have these realizations, we’re able to give ourselves permission to take up space, to speak up, to pursue desirable opportunities that we previously talked ourselves out of. When we realize our worth, we stop settling for relationships with people who do not treat us as we deserve. We set boundaries and speak (and treat) ourselves with more kindness and compassion!

Changing YOUR life has bigger impacts! When you listen to your body and get it the help you need, not only do you change your own life and its trajectory, you make changes that positively impact others. You model what it looks like to prioritize yourself and your own needs. You demonstrate that change is possible for other people who have yet to seek help. When we become healthier, we show up differently in our families, our friendships, and in our work. One person’s decision to make change has ripple effects for those around them.

 FAQs

  • Because of the intensity of Brainspotting, individuals who are actively engaged in therapy and/or who have already done work in therapy are the best fits for this program. We are looking for people who are motivated to do deep work AND who already have access to healthy coping strategies.

  • Individuals who are actively engaging in unhealthy coping strategies such as drug or alcohol use, self-harm or injury are not appropriate for this Intensive. Individuals who experience dissociation are also not good fits for this program. If you are hesitant or reluctant to engage in deep reflection, this Intensive is not for you.

  • Everyone’s experience with Brainspotting is different, and your experience with Brainspotting will be different from session to session and topic to topic. Your Brainspotting experience will be different as you make progress as well.

In general, we ask people to notice the thoughts, memories, feelings, and physical sensations that show up while Brainspotting. It is not uncommon to notice shifting sensations or changes in the intensity of your experiences while Brainspotting. Because we will be doing deep work around difficult topics, it’s important to note that discomfort (emotional or somatic-in your body) can—and will likely-arise. It’s all part of the process and not something to be worried about. One of the most common responses to Brainspotting is feeling tired at the end of the session. For this reason, we encourage you to make time to rest, relax, stretch, and take care of yourself after Brainspotting.

  • We are working on new, more intensive Brainspotting offerings at LifeSpring for people who are interested in doing deep, effective, time-efficient therapeutic work. At this time, however, we do not have plans for another Intensive just like this. This will likely be your last opportunity to participate in an intensive exactly like this one, and it will definitely be the last opportunity to participate at this price point.

  • At LifeSpring, we want to model self-care which means relaxing on the weekends and working during the week. We have chosen this day since many will already have off for the holiday. In doing my own work this past year, I have seen this modeled for me personally, and I have seen that people will make time for the things that are important to them.

  • We all have a responsibility for being good stewards of our money. Only you know your financial situation. What I do know is that how we spend our time, energy, and money is an indicator of what is important to us. Does your use of time, energy, and money, show a belief that you are worth investing in?

As noted above, a typical 1 hour session with Melissa costs $170. This group experience is being offered at a significantly lower rate (for a limited number of people and a limited time frame).

  • 7 hour one-on-one intensives are available with Melissa Wesner. These intensives are for people who are looking for a lot of one-on-one support and the ability to do deep work, quickly and efficiently. Email Melissa at melissa@lifespringcounseling.net to inquire.
